Feel the heat of the forge and hear the ring of hammers during Compass Inn Museum’s Hammer-In, a lively celebration of blacksmithing. For one day only, the museum grounds become a working hub of metal craft as skilled smiths from the Pittsburgh Area Artists Blacksmith Association (PAABA) gather to demonstrate the strength, precision, and artistry behind their trade.
Visitors are treated to blacksmiths shaping glowing metal into tools, hardware, and decorative pieces using modern and historic techniques. Throughout the day, demonstrators share insights into their methods, materials, and craftsmanship.
We encourage you to explore our historic Inn, meet the smiths, ask questions, and enjoy the rare chance to see blacksmiths in action. Hammer-In offers a dynamic look at the skill and creativity that shaped our past and our future.
