2025 Wish Book

Dear LVHS Community,

We’re excited to share we have been featured in the 2025 Wish Book, highlighting 30 nonprofits strengthening Westmoreland County. For this year only, anyone in the community can donate to support all Wish Book organizations—including us! Each organization will receive up to $2,000 in total matching funds from The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County.

This year, we are designating the funds received through the Wish Book program for Compass Inn Museum’s three Living History Weekends. Throughout the summer months, trained interpreters in authentic period clothing bring the early 1800s to life for travelers and townsfolk at stagecoach stops. Guests experience traditional trades such as blacksmithing and beehive oven and open-hearth cookery, as well as other daily tasks that shaped the country.

These immersive experiences spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and create lasting connections to the past. Interpreters ensure historical accuracy and strong educational value, yet their services require investment. The cost of engaging trained interpreters is increasing. We will use the funding to help cover these  fees, enabling the society to keep admission affordable or free so that families, students, and underserved audiences can participate.

Donations can be made between today and January 31 2026. Your support helps us continue our mission of preserving the heritage and history of the Ligonier Valley for present and future generations.

We hope you consider making a donation to the Wish Book to help support our organization and others throughout Westmoreland County.

Sincerely,
