Ligonier Valley Historical Society and the Four-in-Hand Club are pleased to announce a three-day horse-drawn carriage drive to be held June 19–21 in and around Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The event will bring together a distinguished collection of vintage carriages and their teams from across the Eastern United States for a weekend celebrating the tradition of carriage driving.
Participants will be dressed in period-appropriate driving attire as they guide teams of two, three, and four horses drawing beautifully preserved vintage carriages through the scenic Ligonier Valley. The event offers a rare opportunity for the public to witness these magnificent animals and historic vehicles up close while experiencing a living connection to America's past.
The highlight for the general public will be the Friday evening drive on June 19, when carriages will pass through Ligonier and circle the Diamond, the town's historic central square, at approximately 5:30 to 6 pm and again from about 7 to 7:30 pm. Downtown shops will remain open late that evening to welcome visitors who wish to enjoy the spectacle while dining and shopping in the charming borough.
The arrival of horse-drawn vehicles from across the East offers a vivid reminder of the methods of travel that once connected communities and supported commerce throughout the region.
